Jean Bosco Iyacu

Chief Executive Officer, Mojaloop Foundation

Jean Bosco Iyacu is the Chief Executive Officer of the Mojaloop Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting countries and organisations in developing inclusive, instant, and interoperable payment systems. These systems expand access to essential goods and services and strengthen resilience for underserved communities.

He brings more than 20 years of experience working with financial ecosystems and national stakeholders to design and deploy financial solutions and digital public infrastructure. His work has contributed to the creation of lasting value for low-income communities across Rwanda and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Iyacu is a member of the Global FinEquity Technical Advisory Committee and serves as an Independent Director of Salvo Grima Africa Distribution Ltd. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Access to Finance Rwanda and the Rwanda Business Development Centre. He has also held senior leadership roles in leading African financial institutions, including KCB Bank, where he served as Regional Business Manager and Head of Retail and SME Banking.

He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He is certified in SME Financing and Inclusive Insurance by the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and is a Certified Expert in Digital Money from the Digital Frontiers Institute. Iyacu also completed the Introduction to Securities and Investment in Africa course through the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and is a Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Fellow in Rethinking Financial Inclusion.
