Prof. R. Alexander Lorz

Prof. Dr. Alexander Lorz is the incumbent Hessian Minister of Finance since January 2024. He has been a member of the Hessian Landtag (State Parliament) since 2019 and was Hessian Minister of Education and Religious Affairs (2014-2024).
In 2019, he served as the President of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the States in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK). Prior, Prof. Dr. Alexander Lorz served as Hessian State Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and in the Ministry of Sciences and Art.
Before his political career, he has been a Professor of Law at Heinrich Heine University Duesseldorf, specializing in Public, International and European Law where he still regularly teaches a course in International Investment Law.
Lorz holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School and is also admitted to the bar in the State of New York.
