About the organiser
National Bank of Georgia
Situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Georgia is a key link along the Middle Corridor trade route and a trusted gateway for investment, innovation, and cross-border collaboration. The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) plays a central role in advancing this vision. Its broad mandate includes price and financial stability, supervision of the financial sector and capital markets, oversight of payment systems, management of international reserves, and issuance of the national currency. The NBG is implementing regulatory initiatives and modernising payment infrastructure to support Georgia’s emergence as a regional hub for fintech and digital finance.
Central to this effort is a forward-looking regulatory approach that enables innovation while safeguarding financial stability and market integrity. The NBG has established a comprehensive regulatory regime for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), introduced a framework for the initial offering of stablecoins, and developed a digital bank licensing framework under which three digital banks are already operating. Together with continued progress in Open Banking and Open Finance, these initiatives are shaping a more competitive, technology-driven financial ecosystem and creating new opportunities for financial service providers, businesses, and consumers.
