Kazuya Ikeda

Kazuya Ikeda was appointed Senior Managing Executive Officer, Head of Transaction Business Division and Deputy Head of Global Business Unit SMFG/SMBC in April 2025. In May 2025, he was appointed Chairman, SMBC (China) Limited (SMBCCN). In October 2025, he was appointed Head of AI Transformation.

He joined Sakura Bank (currently SMBC) in 1993 and has been with the bank ever since. He has spent about one third of his career overseas, including eight years in Singapore. Prior to his current appointment, he held various leadership roles within the bank, including Joint General Manager, Planning Department, International Banking Unit, Tokyo (2016-2019), General Manager, Planning Department, Asia Pacific Division, Singapore (2019-2022). He was appointed Executive Officer of SMFG/SMBC in 2021, non-executive director of SMBC Bank International plc in 2022 and Managing Executive Officer in 2023.

He holds a BSc from Kyoto University (1993) and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (2003).
