Shyam began his journey in Web3 as a researcher working at the intersection of mechanism design, game theory, and permissionless blockchain systems. After nearly three years in research, he observed a meaningful gap between Ethereum’s true technical and economic affordances and how they were perceived and understood publicly.
Today, Shyam leads the Academic Secretariat at the Ethereum Foundation, a team dedicated to bridging that gap. His work focuses on advancing rigorous academic research and education on Ethereum, building deep relationships with universities and research institutes, and supporting the next generation of scholars exploring decentralized systems. The Secretariat serves as a coordination layer that identifies research gaps in the ecosystem and provides the necessary resources to allow for high-impact academic inquiry to address them.
