Priya is the Head of the Sustainability Solutions Group, Asia Pacific at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). Based in Singapore, Priya is responsible for leading SMBC’s sustainable finance initiatives in Asia Pacific. Working with a dedicated team of ESG specialists, she drives SMBC’s continued ESG ambitions and growth across the region.

Before joining SMBC, Priya led the ASEAN Sustainable Finance and ESG solutions practice at EY. In her role, she led engagements and relationships across banks, insurers, asset managers and regional regulators, addressing ESG frameworks for fixed income origination, sustainable investment frameworks, ESG risk integration, climate risk assessment, decarbonization strategies and ESG regulatory preparedness.

Prior to EY, Priya led her own independent sustainability consulting firm Aquabaleno, collaborating on carbon market research with Imperial College London and the Singapore Green Finance Centre, in addition to supporting climate scenario analysis for a US bank and a wealth fintech.

Priya’s pivot into sustainable finance is rooted in a 17-year career at investment bank Goldman Sachs in London and Singapore, where she focused on credit risk management, OTC derivatives and securitized debt.

Priya holds a Certificate in Sustainable Finance from Cambridge University, Sustainability and Climate Risk Certificate from the Global Association of Risk Professionals, and a Certificate in Sustainable Business from Singapore Management University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Geography from University College London.
