Dr. Ulrike Schmitz is Head of the Unit 'Digital Finance; Payment Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity in financial markets' at the German Federal Ministry of Finance.
Previously, Ulrike Schmitz was Head of the Unit for general and strategic issues of national and European financial market regulation, the European Capital Markets Union and the Banking Union at
the Federal Ministry of Finance (2019 - 2023). In 2010 she served at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in New York. Before joining the Federal Ministry of Finance, Ulrike Schmitz has worked as in-house lawyer for corporate and capital markets law at the international Beiersdorf Group in Hamburg, Germany.
