Opening remarks: Financial services for the next billion

The financial world has radically changed over the past 10 years. There are 2 billion more adults financial included now than in 2011, but 1.4 billion are still excluded. How can we keep up the momentum and include the next billion? One of the most promising areas of development is digital public infrastructure. When every country has a safe and inclusive DPI—founded on a trusted national ID, interoperable instant payments, and data exchange—then it can ensure every person has access to the financial tools and services they need to live a healthy and productive life.
