Henri Dommel is the Director of the Inclusive Finance Unit at UNCDF. He is responsible for leading the Unit’s strategy in promoting access to financial services and the development of inclusive financial sectors in the least Developed Countries.
Dommel contributes to mobilizing external partnerships and supports UNCDF’s agenda for product innovation and diversification, which includes microinsurance and remittances. He leads a technical team of regional managers, portfolio managers and country resident advisers based in the field.
Previously, Dommel worked as Programme Manager at UNCDF and spent six years at IFAD as Senior Technical Adviser on Rural Finance. Before entering the UN system, Dommel worked at Banque Paribas in New Delhi and in Paris at the bank’s department for Africa and the Middle East. He holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, and a degree from the Institut d’Études Politiques, Paris.
